With just three spots to the money and the end of day, Nikolai Gulaiev fell to Daijiro Fukuoka, then Dylan Cechowski eliminated Stein Are Lindstrom to become the first player to reach the million-chip mark and bring the bubble round.
With his massive stack, Cechowski picked the wrong time to pressure, shoving from the small blind in an attempt to steal Sun’s big blind. Sun woke up with ace-queen and made the call, scoring a massive double against Cechowski’s nine-deuce suited diamonds.
Fittingly, Sun closed out the day in style, delivering the bubble by eliminating Xiaomeng Wang with a flush over two pair.
The survivors are all guaranteed a piece of the $500,000 prize pool. For the moment, they can enjoy a couple of days off before returning to the arena for Day 2 which takes place on Friday, April 3, 2026.
They await the results of the final two flights with Flight D taking place on Wednesday, April 1 at 12:30PM and Flight E on Thursday at 6:00PM.
