Masaki Saito

The third starting flight of the 2026 Gods of Poker Taipei II Main Event has been completed with 10 players out of 71 entries securing a cash prize and advancing to Day 2. They will join the 11 survivors of the previous two flights and a large overlay is looming over the flagship tournament of The Trial of Wisdom at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City.

So far, the NT$ 33,000 crown jewel of the schedule has only collected 145 entries but nearly 600 total entries are needed to reach the NT$ 17 Million guarantee. Plenty of players will be jumping into the action for the final two starting flights on Friday, September 25, 2026, also aided by the Boosted Titan Stack and three satellites with 15 tickets guaranteed each.

However, it will be a challenge to reach the desired tally nonetheless.

Not needing to worry about any of that and actually hoping for some extra value are today's ten players who bagged up chips after midnight. Japan's Masaki Saito topped the leaderboard after he burst the bubble with the turned nut flush to beat Vinay B with two pair, as he made it through with 1,521,000. Vinay B had arrived straight from the airport to max late-register only to became the last casualty without anything to show for.

Another two contenders became chip millionaires in Flight C including Guo Jin Zeng (1,125,000) and Tomo Miyagi (1,008,000) whereas Hayato Kitajima (885,000) and Chi Jen Chen (475,000) are notable survivors.

Japan-based Jung Ho Im (pictured above) was the early chip leader during the registration period but he was down to only three big blinds four away from the bubble. Two double ups later. Im bagged up 553,000 in chips and secured another live poker score during the festival.

Final Chip Counts Flight C:

Rank Player Country Chip Count BB Day 2
1 Masaki Saito Japan 1,521,000 95
2 Guo Jin Zeng Taiwan 1,125,000 70
3 Tomo Miyagi Japan 1,008,000 63
4 Hayato Kitajima Japan 885,000 55
5 Jaegeol Cho South Korea 870,000 54
6 Chaehun Ryu South Korea 725,000 45
7 Jie Zhang Canada 720,000 45
8 Paulus Wijaya Indonesia 628,000 39
9 Jung Ho Im South Korea 553,000 35
10 Chi Jen Chen Taiwan 475,000 30

Notable casualties in Flight C included Hao Ran Li, Hyunsup Kim, Shung Er Sua, Ori Kossonogi, Anton Lu, Lester Edoc and Jaesung Park. They all have another two flights available to enter the fray on September 25.

Flight D starts at the usual 12.30 p.m. time slot and will close the registration at 5 p.m. local time with two 60-minute and one 120-minute levels during the registration period. The levels thereafter will be 30 minutes each until the top 13.5% of the field have been reached.

Flight E follows the same deep Cronus Structure as of 6 p.m. local time and will close at 10.30 p.m. local time - don't be late, because otherwise you will be shut out from entering at the last minute. The levels after will last 20 minutes each and play down to the money.

All survivors of the five flights then combine for Day 2 on Saturday, September 26, when the race towards the final table takes place.

By Christian Zetzsche

Since taking a seat late in the last level, Chun Yin Lau has been jamming a few times and was not called yet to come out with some profit. The same also applies for Shung Er Sua on his re-entry after he just forced out Ravn Teo.

The latter was involved in three-way action to the :Af: 8 ♦️ 3 ♠️ 4 ♣️ and bet 26,000. Sua jammed for around 110,000 and forced two folds to claim the pot.

New Chip Leader in Flight C

By Christian Zetzsche

Jie Zhang

With the completed board showing 7 ♦️ 6 ♥️ 5 ♠️ 7 ♥️ 4 ♣️ , Kanghee Kim bumped it up to 100,000 and Jie Zhang went into a brief tank. The last time Kim had a full house on the paired board.

However, that wasn't the case this time as Zhang called to get shown the 6 ♣️ 5 ♣️ for flopped two pair that were counterfeit by now. Zhang had that beat with the 8 ♠️ 8 ♣️ for the straight.

Baek and Yamada No More

By Christian Zetzsche

Apologies that we did not catch the cards of Hirohito Marunaka anymore because they were just mucked, and the rest of the table as well as Marunaka on the way out could just smirk when Jung Ho Im once again stole the show and chips with another knockout.

On a board of A ♦️ Q ♦️ 7 ♠️ K ♥️ K ♦️ , the A ♠️ K ♣️ of Im made kings full of aces to reduce the field by one and further grow his early lead.

Sua Out and Back In

By Christian Zetzsche

Shung Er Sua

Shung Er Sua found a decent spot to get his shorter stack in preflop holding the A ♣️ K ♠️ but his timing was quite off, as Man Hin Siu had that crushed with the A ♠️ A ♥️ . The rockets were not cracked on the 7 ♦️ 6 ♣️ 6 ♥️ Q ♥️ 6 ♦️ board and Sua re-entered to the same table and different seat shortly after.

On the K ♥️ turn, only Baek called a bet of 25,000 by Jeon who then checked the 9 ♥️ river.

Chien Hung Chi: A ♣️ 8 ♦️

Kozo Yamada: K ♣️ K ♦️

"Nice Bluff" Goes Wrong for Jeon

By Christian Zetzsche

Masaki Saito

On a flop of K ♣️ Q ♥️ 10 ♣️ , Tak Jeon bet 11,000 and Masaki Saito flat-called. The 8 ♣️ came on the turn and Jeon checked, Saito used a time bank and bet 18,000 to get called.

What followed was the Q ♣️ river which paired the board and brought the fourth club on the board. Jeon now led for 55,000 and Saito went deep into the tank. Upon using four time banks, Saito called and Jeon tabled the J ♠️ 8 ♥️ for a bluff, which Saito had beat holding the A ♣️ :Jd with the ace-high flush.

At 12.30 p.m. local time, the third of five starting flights of the Gods of Poker The Trial of Wisdom Main Event is set to kick off inside of the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City. The flagship tournament of the entire festival comes with a buy-in of NT$ 33,000 and massive NT$ 17 Million guarantee, and the tally after two flights very much indicates that a healthy overlay is looming.

Across Flight A and B, only 74 entries have been recorded and 11 players secured their spots for the money stages so far with Kristof Segers leading the way among them. Segers turned his 120,000 starting stack into massive 2,085,000 and it will be a difficult task to dethrone the Belgian from the top spot for Day 2 in the remaining three flights.

The next chance to do so awaits at half past noon when Flight C commences with the even deeper refined Cronus Structure. Level one features a 60-minute duration with blinds of 500-1,000/1,000 before two 120-minute levels follow. When the registration closed at 6.15 p.m. local time, all entries at the last minute will start their journey with 30 big blinds for level four at blinds of 2,000-4,000/4,000.

One thing is for certain - the poker room here in Taiwan will be buzzing throughout the day with plenty of tournaments taking place. The final day of the NT$ 3 Million guaranteed Accumulator Event brings back 68 players out of 569 entries for a small overlay in the NT$ 5,500 buy-in. Several of those who advanced earned a NT$ 25,000 bonus for bagging up chips in multiple flights and will combine their stacks for the final day.

The action resumes at blinds 8,000-16,000/16,000 with a min cash worth NT$ 10,800 and the winner will take home a very healthy payday of NT$ 543,600 in this low stakes highlight. Current Player of the Festival front runner Shi Rong Wang returns as one of the largest stacks in the field with 1,024,000 whereas Ryusuke Kasawaki is the strongest of double baggers for a combined 982,000.

The Titan Stack Daily NT$ 11,000 guarantee has been boosted once again for a special edition which has seem the figure doubled to NT$ 2 Million with a three flight setup for today at 1.30 p.m., 4.30 p.m. and 8.30 p.m. respectively. Each of the heats plays to the top 13.5% in the money, and all players ITM will receive a NT$ 33,000 Main Event ticket taken from the prize pool on the final day.

Furthermore, the first of three mega satellites to the GOP Taipei Main Event awaits at 9 p.m. local time today as well, promising the potential of extra value with an overlay likely for a bargain price tag of just NT$ 3,500.

The NT$ 320,000 Demigods Challenge is the most expensive tournament on the schedule and will take place today as well as of 1 p.m. local time with the stunning GOP gauntlet trophy up for grabs.

Turbo and Hyper Turbo Side Events with trophies can also be found on today's schedule as well, which you can find right here.

The GOP live updates will pick up the action of the Main Event Flight C as of the third level and continue to provide coverage until the bubble has burst while keeping an eye on what is happening in the Asia Poker Arena throughout the day as well.
