Lester Edoc

The final flight of the GOP Main Event wrapped up with 14 players surviving from a field of 99 entries, and towering above all of them was Lester Edoc, who bagged a monstrous 2,990,000 stack to seize the overall chip lead heading into Day 2.

Edoc has been one of the undeniable forces of the series. Since the festival opened, he has piled up deep runs, captured a coveted Gauntlet, and added a side event title.

His strong run continued at Flight E with multiple players meeting his hammer that included Yoichi Hayashi on the soft bubble and Masatoshi Akasaka on the stone bubble.

After the count, Edoc bagged up 2,990,000, which was the equivalent of nearly 25 starting stacks — in context, that's a quarter of the entire Flight E field concentrated in front of one player.

Right behind him was Wenchao Liu, continuing his own impressive Incheon campaign. Liu previously finished 3rd in the GOP Super High Roller won by Edoc, then followed it up with a runner-up finish at the Titan Stack High Roller. Rounding out the top three was Evgenii Chzhen, who got involved in numerous hands during the bubble round to boost his stack near the top of the counts.

When the flop came 10 ♦️ J ♥️ Q ♥️ it seemed like the kind of board scripted in a poker movie.

Miyamoto had top pair, though he was still trailing Wu’s pocket rockets, while Li rocketed into the lead with a set of jacks. The turn 3 ♦️ changed nothing and it looked like Li was about to scoop a monster pot when the river K ♦️ landed completing broadway for both Wu and Miyamoto to crack Li’s set.
