John Tech

The previous bubble troll John Tech was involved in a raised pot against Dakota Anderson who then bet the J ♠️ 6 ♠️ 2 ♦️ flop. Tech had 131,000 behind with one hands left at these blinds and the big blind next, he opted to fold.

"Enough for the small blind and one chip left, I am not an idiot," Tech said as he could potentially survive the entire orbit thereafter if needed.

In that very next hand when he was in the big blind, Young Min Kang raised to 100,000. Stevie Moon jammed the button for 740,000 and Anderson in the big blind sighed, but folded.

Tech called all-in and Kang folded.

John Tech: J ♠️ J ♥️

Stevie Moon: A ♦️ A ♥️

The aces held on the 9 ♦️ 4 ♠️ 3 ♥️ 9 ♥️ 8 ♠️ runout and the bubble troll became the bubble boy.

All 15 remaining players are now bagging up the chips for the night, while Flight E is still ongoing.

Why Double When You Can Triple?

By Christian Zetzsche

Edgar Asehan

Apologies for the lack of updates from Flight E which is down to 51 players out of 106 entries, but the bubble in Flight D is still underway at an incredible 25,000-50,000/50,000 blinds.

Edgar Asehan jammed for 78,000 in the cutoff and was called by Renato Villanuena and Kenneth Isip in the blinds. They checked down the 5 ♣️ 5 ♥️ 4 ♦️ 7 ♥️ 9 ♦️ board and Asehan's J ♠️ J ♥️ won the triple up!

To The Moon and Back

By Christian Zetzsche

Stevie Moon

Stevie Moon three-bet pushed all-in for 370,000 and was quickly called by Young Min Kang from under the gun. When the other table had finished the action and everyone hurried over, John Tech had his chips slightly moved forward and was grasping his player ticket to pretend he had cards - the trolling actually worked on Moon.

Floor staff was already aware it was only heads-up and Moon grabbed his phone to take a video of the all-in showdown.

Stevie Moon: A ♦️ K ♦️

Young Min Kang: A ♠️ Q ♥️

The kicker played on the 7 ♠️ 5 ♣️ 3 ♦️ 10 ♥️ 5 ♥️ board for Moon to double.

Emmanuel Derecho: A ♣️ 9 ♣️

Thanh Cao Nguyen: A ♦️ Q ♠️

The local rail loudly demanded for the queen of clubs when Derecho was in dire shape on the K ♣️ J ♠️ 10 ♠️ flop.

Sure enough, the turn brought the Q ♣️ and Derecho went from almost out to freerolling a double! No drama followed on the 3 ♠️ river to secure the split pot.

Young Min Kang raised to 80,000 and then called a three-bet by Edilberto Gopez two seats over. Dakota Anderson folded in the small blind and they headed to 10 ♠️ 9 ♣️ 2 ♦️ flop after which Gopez went broke.

Edilberto Gopez: K ♠️ K ♦️

Young Min Kang: 10 ♥️ 10 ♣️

Gopez vaulted out of his chair and already grabbed his belongings in disgust. He picked up a gutshot on the Q ♦️ turn but the 6 ♦️ river ended his run just shy of the money.

"You would have gotten all of this if he didn't three-bet. I had pocket nines and would have stacked off," Anderson told Kang in table chat.

Joven Huerto: A ♥️ K ♣️

Duel of the Big Stacks

By Christian Zetzsche

Young Min Kang raised to 60,000 and Mc Yeldarb Mantos called in the small blind. Mantos check-called the Kh: 9 ♦️ 7 ♠️ flop for 50,000 and the Q ♠️ turn was checked by both. Mantos bet the 3 ♣️ river for 82,000 and Kang folded.

Right after the blinds went up to 20,000-40,000/40,000 and that brought the average down to 19 big blinds for the last 18 players, three away from the money in this flight.

Player Chip Count
Mc Yeldarb Mantos 1,725,000
Young Min Kang 1,390,000
Federick Cruz

Jester Intia sent Dickson Chew to the rail and the next two all-in and call both featured Young Min Kang.

He first looked up Yasuyuki Yamada with 5 ♠️ 5 ♥️ versus A ♦️ Q ♣️ and the pair held on the 6 ♠️ 6 ♣️ 2 ♥️ K ♥️ 10 ♠️ runout.

Federick Cruz then jammed for only 138,000 and Kang in the big blind called after some deliberation.

Federick Cruz: K ♦️ Q ♠️

Young Min Kang: 9 ♦️ 7 ♥️

Both had a pair on the K ♥️ 7 ♠️ 5 ♣️ flop and the 8 ♠️ turn gave Kang a gutshot, which he hit with the 6 ♣️ on the river to bring the field to the last 18 players.

Player Chip Count
Young Min Kang 1,525,000
Jester Intia 925,000
Federick Cruz 0

It seemed to be just a matter of time until the low average would catch up with several shorter stacks still in contention and the action then escalated in a hurry.

Kenneth Ip scored a full double through Federick Cruz with Q ♠️ 8 ♠️ for a turned straight on J ♣️ 9 ♣️ 6 ♠️ 10 ♥️ when the chips went in. Cruz had the 10 ♠️ 9 ♠️ and couldn't boat up on the J ♦️ river.

Villanueva then min-raised and then called the all-in of Petteri Miettinen with the A ♠️ Q ♦️ . Miettinen was ahead with ace-king but Villanueva got there on the Q ♥️ J ♥️ 5 ♠️ 8 ♠️ 3 ♣️ runout.

He then min-raised again and Mohan Zhang defended with an ace to go broke on an ace-queen high flop. You may guess what hand Villanueva had to leave his opponent drawing dead on the turn.

By Christian Zetzsche

Renato Villanueva

Marc Rivera has been spotted on the rail discussing a hand in which the action may have changed after he had already busted.

The field has already dropped to fewer than 60 hopefuls all hoping to make it to the top 15 spots and avoid having to jump into Flight E at 6 p.m. local time.

Renato Villanueva is among those who has an above-average stack and just picked up even more chips when Kohki Iwata defended the big blind and missed a gutshot with 3 ♦️ 3 ♠️ . The action was limited because Villanueva's J ♥️ J ♦️ were quite vulnerable on the draw-heavy board.

Player Chip Count
Renato Villanueva 310,000
Kohki Iwata 140,000
John Matsuda

Following an open raise, Katsutoshi Watanabe called on the button and Martin Astorga then jammed the small blind for 39,500. John Matsuda called in the big blind and Watanabe very reluctantly called, too.

John Matsuda: K ♠️ K ♣️

Two Casualties So far in Flight D

By Christian Zetzsche

The first hour of play has passed with some 36 total entries of which 34 players remained and the only two contenders to run out of chips were Rudy Edenata and Guillaume Burette. However, they both already re-entered and several other players joined during the first 15-minute break to increase the field size further.

Notables to have already entered the fray beyond are Jester Intia, Christian Cloutier, Alexis Lim, Aleksei Zhukov, Henrik Tollefsen, Moses Saquing, Alexis Cruz, Emmanuel Segismundo, John Matsuda and Ronald Haverkamp.

They are now competing at 1,000-2,000 / 2,000 and this level will last 120 minutes before the late registration closed at the end of the following break.

The stage is set for the final two flights of the 2026 Gods Of Poker (GOP) Manila Main Event, which has attracted 168 entries across the first three flights so far. This figure will likely be smashed today as many poker enthusiasts from near and far are expected to enter the fray in the PHP 82,500 buy-in to take a shot at the massive PHP 30 Million (∼ USD 500,000) guarantee, after all there might be quite some extra value in the form of overlay up for grabs.

The Arena of Champions will be inside of the Grand Ballroom at the City of Dreams Manila Luxury Hotel Resort & Casino not far from the international airport. Some hopefuls may even jump right from the plane into the action, in fact Tom Verbruggen did that a few days ago. His first attempt wasn't fruitful but he won the Titan Stack High Roller with it's stylish rose gauntlet trophy yesterday.

It all kicks off at 12.30 p.m. local time with Flight D, which features three hours of play during the late registration with a 60-minute level at blinds of 500-1,000/1,000 followed by a 120-minute level at 1,000-2,000/2,000. The level duration thereafter will be 30 minutes each.

Flight E is then the last chance to enter the crown jewel of the 2026 GOP Manila festival and it kicks off at 6 p.m. local time. The registration period is identical with Flight D and closes at approximately 9.30 p.m. local time, after which the levels last 20 minutes each.

Both of the heats follow the same principle as the previous three flights and play down to the money for approximately the top 13.5% of each respective field. So far, 24 players have qualified for Day 2 and locked up a cash prize already.

If any of those previous survivors wish to join again, they can do so to try and run up their 120,000 starting stack to a larger tally. Multiple bags will be rewarded with a min-cash and the larger stack is carried into the money stage.

The GOP updates will focus on Flight D to begin with until the money bubble has burst while keeping an eye on the overall progress of the last flight as well before switching over for the remainder of the night.
