Loffler Takes Charge

Kilian Loffler

Despite entering the final day with a commanding chip lead, Jing Ku Huang soon found himself under pressure as Kilian Loffler began his climb up the chip rung. The German pro doubled through the Jing Ku Huang early, then scored a second one against Matas Kacinskas that tightened the gap.

Hiroki Karatsu - 9th place

The first player to fall was Hiroki Karatsu, whose hopes of improving on his fourth-place finish at the inaugural GOP Incheon Main Event ended in 9th place. Kacinskas followed in 8th place, unable to recover from losing a majority of his stack to Loffler.

Then came Loffler's takeover. He eliminated Hua Huang in 7th place to propel into the chip lead, and dominated all the way to heads up.

Yuetsu Shu's Incredible Escape

Among the final table's top highlights was a spectacular runner-runner escape by Yuetsu Shu, who somehow cracked Hau-Yun Chen's pocket aces.

During the hand, Shu was down to just ten big blinds and found himself in terrible shape after shoving ace-four suited into Chen's aces. With little hope on the flop, Shu picked up a gutshot straight draw on the turn and hit one of his four outs on the river.

It was actually Shu's second runner-runner rescue, having earlier caught a backdoor flush to avoid becoming the first bust of the day.

Despite those shocking escapes, Shu's run eventually ended in 6th place at the hands of Daniel Neilson.

Daniel Neilson -5th place

At five-handed, Loffler claimed another stack by railing Neilson on a cooler with pocket aces over ace-king. By this point, Loffler amassed nearly 60% of the chips.

Hau Yun Chen - 4th place

His fortress continued to spread when he sent Chen's stack plunging to just two big blinds. Chen soon fell to Koji Ohira in 4th place, then Ohira exited in 3rd place on a flip against the leader.

Huang Turns the Tables

Loffler was firmly in control when heads up play began with 137 bb to 14 bb. But Huang had luck on his side. It took three all in showdowns and relentless grinding to even up and reclaim the lead he once had.

The hand that flipped it was both had the same two pair with Huang holding the better kicker. On Hand #195 of the final table, the title was finally decided.

Huang completed a flush on the turn to defeat Loffler's top pair and bring the marathon heads-up battle to a close.
