Kristof Segers Takes Main Event Lead; New Boosted Events Promise Value

The crown jewel of The Trial of Wisdom comes with a staggering guarantee of NT$ 17 Million and plenty of chances to dash out extra value to poker enthusiasts from near and far with a sizeable overlay not too far-fetched. Yesterday's opening flight for the NT$ 33,000 buy-in saw 35 entries emerge and five players advance, after which Flight B today attracted a slightly bigger crowd. With another 39 entries to boost, the overall attendance after two of five flights now stands ad 74 and more than 600 are needed to meet the guarantee.

Among the final six players to punch their ticket for the money stages was also local Taiwan resident Kristof Segers who originally hails from Belgium. He busted not far from the bubble in Flight A and came back with a vengeance to turn his 120,000 starting stack into a monstrous 2,085,000 after knocking out Kai Cheng Hsu and Sin Lan Chen minutes apart.

Second-placed Harry Halim made it through with a very respectable 941,000, which is still less than half of Segers' tower of chips which he could observe growing from up close one seat over. Halim is no stranger to deep runs in Gods of Poker tournaments and narrowly missed out on the GOP gauntlet trophy twice during the previous stop in Manila.

Two local players were among to advance from Flight B in Pao Hsuan Hsu (660,000) and Lian An Jian (336,000), while South Korea's Hyungil Jang (469,000) and Charles Tsai (206,000) needed double-ups during the bubble period to stay in contention.

Eventual chip leader Segers was jokingly declaring to "run hot" or "run cold" through various phases of this flight, which saw him involved in a lot of the big pots. The Belgian was responsible for several knockouts to shape his massive stack and the final showdown was the most classic of coin flips with ace-queen against pocket tens. Chen was ahead preflop but a queen appeared to end her run on the stone bubble for Flight B.

Early front runner was yesterday's very first casualty of the Main Event Flight A Chuang Lin Cheng, who ran up a massive stack until the end of the late registration. But as soon as he got moved to Segers' table, things went south and he bowed out just shy of the nine-handed finale. Other notable casualties include Anton Lu, Man Hin Siu, Lester Edoc, as well as Chi Jen Chen.

Another three starting flights remain throughout the following two days here in Taipei City and Flight C on Thursday, September 24, 2026, is a copy of the first two. One level of 60 minutes at 120 big blinds deep from 12.30 p.m. local time onwards is followed by two 120-minute levels before the late registration closes at 6.15 p.m. local time.

Three of the existing satellites on September 24 and 25 have had their guarantees boosted to award at least 15 seats each with potential overlay alert, as today's satellite with three seats guaranteed also included plenty of extra value. They feature a buy-in of only NT$ 3,500 and represent the cheapest way to get into the flagship tournament of the series.

Furthermore, the NT$ 11,000 Titan Stack Daily on September 24 has been boosted significantly with a NT$ 2 Million guarantee. The tournament has been expanded to three starting flights which play down to the top 13.5% in the money each. All survivors then return the next day to play to a champion.

However, everyone is already a winner regardless as each player in the money also receives a NT$ 33,000 Main Event ticket which is deducted from the overall prize pool.

There has been some movement on the festival leaderboard, which will pay the top three with the most points earned across the more than 70 tournaments via in-the-money finishes.

Currently in the lead is Shi Rong Wang, who won the first Titan Stack Daily and finished as the runner-up two days later. He then cashed in a High Roller Event and won today's Hyper Turbo Event for NT$ 21,560 to further extend his lead. Wang now sits on 14,764 points with four cashed and two trophies.

Second is Dutch live poker veteran Rob Hollink with 9,307 points after he won the NT$ 220,000 Super High Roller for NT$ 1,067,000. Rudy Edenata finished second for NT$ 640,200, while Harry Halim came in third place for NT$ 426,800.

South Korea's Jung Ho Im was a cat with many lives on a short stack with four players left on the money bubble in the NT$ 38,500 Single Day High Roller. He cracked pocket aces with jack-ten when flopping a straight to stay in the mix. Soon after, Im was all-in preflop with A ♠️ Q ♦️ against the J ♦️ J ♣️ of William Tjokroprawiro and couldn't get there on a 7 ♠️ 2 ♠️ 2 ♦️ 10 ♦️ 3 ♣️ board to come up short of a cash prize.

Tjokroprawiro was just behind fellow Indonesian Fendy Kosasih while Hollink still had the chance to claim his second trophy of the day. However, that bid came up short as the Dutchie became the first casualty in the money.

Kosasih had the lead and Tjokroprawiro went down with a big bluff when he jammed the K ♦️ 7 ♣️ 3 ♥️ 2 ♠️ 8 ♥️ board with 6 ♥️ 5 ♦️ for a missed gutshot and just six high. Kosasih had an easy call holding the 7 ♦️ 7 ♥️ for a flopped set of sevens and won his second High Roller title in as many days. The victory came with a top prize of NT$ 252,000, half the of the total prize, and vital points for a possible leaderboard challenge for the GOP Manila 2026 gauntlet winner.

Aforementioned Shi Rong Wang tried to burst the bubble in Accumulator Flight F and Hung Cheng Lin even celebrated too early for what would have been his third cash and second NT$ 25,000 bonus of the tournament. Jun An Lin was at risk with A ♣️ 9 ♠️ versus Wang's 9 ♦️ 8 ♣️ but dodged the straight draw on the K ♠️ 10 ♠️ 7 ♥️ 2 ♦️ Q ♦️ board.

Aces then held versus jacks and karma would bite Lin in the most cruel of fashions. He was all-in with A ♥️ J ♦️ on a short stack against Wang's J ♥️ 3 ♣️ and the 10 ♣️ 7 ♠️ 2 ♠️ 7 ♦️ 3 ♠️ runout brought the trey on the river to deny a second NT$ 25,000 bonus. Right after, the 19 survivors bagged up their chips but have the option to jump into Flight G to increase their stack further and potentially earn the cash boost.

Wang ended up topping the flight as only player with a seven-figure stack while three players earned the NT$ 25,000 Cash Bonus for bagging up chips in an Accumulator Event for the second time. Kai Cheng Hsu busted Flight B of the Main Event two from the money but advanced once more in the Accumulator, as did Jaesung Kang and Chen Hong Jun.

The penultimate flight drew a total of 137 entries to be slightly above the expectations with 19 players going through. In the final Flight G, another 175 entries were added to bring the overall tally to 569 entries - that is short of the NT$ 3 Million guarantee but the overlay could have been a lot bigger.

All survivors return at 12.30 p.m. local time to play down to a winner.

Reigning GOP Manila Main Event champion Dakota Anderson arrived in the late afternoon and jumped right into the Side Event action, as did fellow finalist Aleksei Zhukov. The Russian won a Hyper Turbo High Roller for NT$ 129,560 whereas Lester Edoc finished second for NT$ 77,800 - more ammunition for the flagship Main Event.

Among the trophy winner's today were Dong Yan, Li Kung, and Yen Hu Chiu in the Big O.
