The Gods of Poker Incheon II entered the halfway mark with five out of the ten-day schedule now in the books. The highlight was none other than the Main Event.
Taking place at world-class Paradise City, the rake-free opening flight, sponsored by Pokerfors, drew 115 entries.
By bagging time, 16 survived led by Taiwan's Yun Yao Hung with a massive stack worth 97 big blinds. He was trailed by Kilian Loffler though far behind with 67 big blinds.
Away from the Main Event, the trophy race was just as busy, with seven players hoisting GOP hardware across the day's side events.
The Main Event may not have gone his way, but Yamato Takamasa sure didn't leave the day empty-handed. The newcomer bounced back in the Demigods Challenge, where he overcame seasoned pros Daniel Neilson and Calvin Sungwon Lee to capture his first known live poker title.
The victory earned Takamasa the mighty Black Gauntlet and KR₩ 40,740,000.
Remember Rintaro Kato? The Japanese player who tore through four opponents at the Titan Stack final table before falling one spot short of the title? Well, he's back, and this time he finished the job!
Kato outlasted the 18-entry Hyper Turbo – High Roller to claim his first trophy of the series and KR₩ 7,772,000. Among those he denied was Ryoma Yamamoto, who arrived just today.
Yamamoto had one of the strongest showings at GOP Incheon I where he won two events and finished 9th at the Main Event. He is in top form with a first cash already at this event.
