Yun Yao Hung

The Gods of Poker Incheon II Main Event got off to a strong start with 115 entries taking advantage of the rake-free opening flight, courtesy of Pokerfors. Lithuanian and Taiwanese players turned out in force, joining the strong Japanese contingent, and players from the rest of the world.

By the end of play, it was Taiwan's own Yun Yao Hung who pulled well ahead of the 16 survivors, bagging a commanding 2,915,000 (97 bb) in chips.

Hung's surge came in two pivotal hands, both as the bubble neared. First, he doubled up through Oki Nishizaki, then delivered a crushing blow to Ikko Yoshimuta, exposing his bluff to send him to the rail.

Kilian Loffler

Also delivering a dominating presence was Germany's Kilian Loffler who, for much of the day, was the player to catch. Loffler knocked out numerous players including Zongxin Liu on the bubble to bag up 2,000,000 (66 bb) the second largest stack.

Other Flight A Highlights

You Xuan Luo

The opening flight was jam-packed with action, including an explosive entrance from Taiwan's You Xuan Luo. Just minutes after taking her seat, Luo eliminated Zhen-Hao Lee when her rivered full house crushed his trip sevens.

Another exciting hand belonged to Oki Nishizaki, who put Kevin Moon through an agonizing river decision causing him to burn through nine time chips!

Kota Hirano

There was no shortage of successful bluff catchers either. Yuma Endo caught Jen-Yue Chiang firing a busted flush draw into his rivered flush, and Kota Hirano stood his ground against Randy Oh, calling a hefty river raise that forced Oh to muck.

Notable Casualties Have Four More Chances

Matas Kaä Inskas

The road to the money proved unforgiving for several familiar faces. Yohn Paredes fell just two spots short of the money, Matas Kaä Inskas, who had been among the early chip leaders, saw his fortunes unravel after a costly river call against Zongjun Yan.

Also missing the cut were GOP Gauntlet holder Daniel Neilson, Jun Li, Tung Wing Wong, Luke Dainton, along with Singapore's Ravn Teo.

Teo arrived in Incheon hungry for glory after coming agonizingly close to the GOP Taipei Main Event title last September, where he finished third.

Fortunately for the flight's fallen, their Main Event ambitions are far from over. Four more starting flights remain, giving them plenty of chances to jump back into the action and chase the coveted GOP Main Event Gauntlet along with a share of the KRW 600,000,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Zongxin Liu and Kilian Loffler

While massive stacked Yun Yao Hung was bullying with his big stack at Table 6, on the other felt, table leader Kilian Loffler was doing the same, scooping pot after pot as his raises went unchallenged.

That changed when Zongxin Liu decided to defend his big blind.

Both players then checked through the turn, completing the board to J ♠️ Q ♦️ 7 ♦️ K ♥️ Q ♠️. Liu checked once more then Loffler sized him up, betting 200,000 that put Liu all in.

Liu went into the tank, then announced,

"Okay!" as he pushed his remaining chips forward.

Unfortunately for Liu, Loffler had the goods. He turned over Q ♥️ 9 ♣️ trips, crushing Liu's K ♠️ 2 ♠️ two pair to deliver the bubble.

With that, the final 16 players was determined and they bagged up to end Flight A.

Kilian Loffler 2,000,000

Level 13 is underway with 17 players remaining from a field of 115 entries. It is bubble time with bagging time at ITM of 16 players. Blinds are now 15,000-30,000 ante 30,000.

Yun Yao Hung

Yun Yao Hung became the first player to cross the two-million chip mark, and Yang Tsu Yun paid the price.

Just a few hands earlier, Yun paid Yuma Endo a double up, but the loss barely dented his stack until he faced Hung.

The hand opened with a raise from Yun at cutoff and Hung defended his big blind. Hung then checked his way to the river on a board of 2 ♥️ A ♦️ 3 ♣️ J ♥️ 9 ♣️. Yun took a stab for 175,000, only to face a sizable check-raise to 450,000.

Yun wasn't convinced and went into the tank before calling. Hung flipped over A ♣️ J ♠️ for top two pair to collect another massive pot.

Yohn Paredes has been eliminated to bring the field down to 17 players. The tables are now hand-for-hand until the bubble bursts.

The first all in came shortly after with Yuma Endo raising 100,000 then pushed by Yang Tsu Yun to commit his last 10,000 behind.

Endo was flipping with A ♣️ K ♣️ against Yun's 10 ♦️ 10 ♥️.

The board was kind to Endo, running 3 ♥️ 3 ♠️ A ♦️ 7 ♦️ K ♥️, to avoid falling on the bubble.

Ikko Yoshimuta tried to muscle Yun Yao Hung out of the pot, but he couldn't have picked a worse time.

On a board of A ♦️ 10 ♠️ 5 ♣️ 10 ♣️, Yoshimuta fired a pot-sized bet of 200,000. Hung refused to budge, and called to head to the river J ♣️.

Yoshimuta tried again, this time shoving his remaining 395,000. Hung was stunned and stood from his seat. After reviewing the board for several seconds, Hung made the call.

Yoshimuta was caught red-handed, revealing a stone cold bluff of 2 ♣️ 4 ♦️. Hung turned over 5 ♠️ 5 ♦️ full house to ship the enormous pot and send Yoshimuta to the rail.

Teo quickly got out of the way leaving Loffler to act. Loffler folded.

More chips found the pot after the flop came Q ♦️ Q ♥️ 9 ♥️ when Luo's c-bet of 20,000 was called. Both players then passed up the 3 ♣️ turn to bring the K ♥️ on the river.

No more passiveness from Chiang who led for 55,000. Luo called. Chiang thought he had it when he revealed J ♦️ 10 ♦️ straight but Luo flipped over 10 ♥️ 8 ♥️ flush to deny him the pot.

You Xuan Luo 640,000

The new level has been brutal for Matas Kaä Inskas, who saw his stack plummet from 74 big blinds to just 20 big blinds after two costly hands.

Yang Tsu Yun struck first, taking around 200,000 off Inskas, then Yan delivered an even bigger blow.

The action was picked up on a board of Q ♣️ J ♦️ Q ♦️ 7 ♣️ with 125,000 already in the pot. Inskas bet 65,000 only to face a check-raise to 150,000 from Yan. After a lengthy tank, Inskas called.

The river 6 ♥️ brought no hesitation from Yan who quickly shoved for 410,000. Inskas went deep into the tank once again, staring down Yan before finally making the hero-call.

However, it was bad news for Inskas. Yan tabled Q ♥️ 8 ♥️ for trip queens, crushing Inskas's A ♦️ 10 ♣️ ace-high bluff catcher. The massive pot sent Yan soaring past the one-million mark.

A wild preflop betting war saw Hyung Soo Lim risk his tournament life and chip leader Kilian Loffler flex his stack, only for both players to split it up!

Matas Kaä Inskas opened the action, followed by a three bet to 28,000 from Jing Gu Huang. Next to act, Lim unleashed a four bet shove for 279,000.

Action not done. Sitting in the big blind, Loffler peeked at his cards then went into the tank. He came out firing a massive five bet to 600,000. This was enough to chase away both Inskas and Huang with Huang open-folding J ♦️ J ♠️.

Their hole cards were then exposed for a classic collision as Lim tabled A ♦️ K ♦️ against Loffler's A ♣️ K ♣️. Neither player improved on the rainbow runout for a split pot after all that preflop drama.

Hirano Tested By Oh

By Tricia David

Kota Hirano

Randy Oh was sitting on a big stack when he got involved with Kota Hirano in a hand that turned into a battle of nerves.

Oh opened preflop then called Hirano's three-bet to see a flop of 6 ♠️ 4 ♦️ 8 ♣️. Hirano continued for 16,000, and Oh called.

The turn 5 ♣️ saw Hirano slow down to a check, opening the door for Oh to steal. Oh fired 29,000 and Hirano tank-called.

On the river 4 ♠️, with the board pairing and all low cards, Hirano grabbed the reins again and led out for 35,000. Oh put him to the test with a raise to 145,000. Hirano tanked while assessing the board then found the reason to call.

We will be right back.

It's been a frustrating series for Yohn Paredes, who has been in action since opening day but has yet to find his rhythm. Hoping the Main Event turns it around, Paredes once again found himself fighting for survival.

On a board of K ♣️ 6 ♣️ 8 ♠️ 4 ♠️, Paredes shoved his last 46,000 and was snap-called by Juhyun Lee. Big-stacked Zongjun Yan was also in the hand and tanked-folded after using up two time chips.

Yohn Paredes

Paredes revealed 10 ♠️ 7 ♠️ and declared, "I have too many outs!"
