Yu Yeh Chun

Yu Yeh Chun was down to just eight big blinds when he went all in and with one face card, Chih Wei Fan called.

It was nearly over when the flop ran Q ♠️ 5 ♠️ 5 ♣️. With the turn 10 ♦️, Chun was drawing dead. The river 2 ♥️ completed the board. 

Chih Wei Fan with 10 ♦️ 8 ♥️ limped in and Yu Yeh Chun with 9 ♥️ 7 ♥️ checked. 

Both players caught a piece of the flop 10 ♣️ 8 ♦️ 7 ♣️ with Fan ahead with two pair over Chun's pair and open-ended. After Chun checked, Fan didn't pass it up and bet 800,000, Chun called. 

The turn 5 ♣️ brought another check from Chun and another bet from Fan of 2,000,000, Chun folded and dropped to 11 big blinds. 

Chih Wei Fan limped in then snap-called Yu Yeh Chun's shove.

Behind at the showdown, Chun found the flop and with the board running out K ♣️ Q ♦️ 6 ♥️ 9 ♠️ 9 ♥️, he was given renewed life to continue his bid for the black-and-gold. 

Chih Wei Fan limped in and Yu Yeh Chun checked. Both players checked to the turn 8 ♠️ K ♥️ 8 ♣️ 7 ♥️ where Chun led for 750,000. Fan flatted. Chun fired again on the river Q ♠️ and Fan called.

Chun turned over air and lost more chips with Fan showing two pair.

Both players checked it to the river 7 ♥️ K ♠️ 7 ♠️ 5 ♣️ K ♣️ where Fan led for 4,300,00. Chun called and saw he was far behind the full house.

The Main Event is down to the final two players. One player will clinch the inaugural GOP Taipei Main Event title and hoist the Black-and-Gold Gauntlet.

Chih Wei Fan raised 1,000,000 on the button and Long Hin Shiao called on the small blind.

Chih Wei Fan: K ♦️ 9 ♣️

Both players paired up on the flop of 9 ♦️ 3 ♦️ 10 ♠️ with Shiao holding top pair. They both checked to the turn 3 ♠️.

No more checking for Shiao with a bet of 1,000,000. Fan drove it up to 3,400,000, and Shiao jammed. Fan called and had 12% to crack top pair while Shiao had a 90% chance to win the hand. 

The river delivered Fan the K ♥️ to bad beat Shiao into 3rd place. 

The last three players are on another break. 

Chih Wei Fan with A ♠️ 5 ♦️ raised 900,000 on the button and Yu Yeh Chun with K ♠️ 7 ♦️ called on the big blind. 

Both players landed a gutshot then checked the flop 6 ♦️ 4 ♣️ 8 ♥️. When the A ♥️ on the turn paired Fan, he sent out a delayed c-bet of 1,100,000 and Chun check-called. 

The river 4 ♠️ paired the board. Chun checked again. Fan continued with a 2,700,000 bet and took down the pot uncontested. 

Long Hin Shiao vs  Yu Yeh Chun

Long Hin Shiao raised 800,000 on the small blind and Yu Yeh Chun defended on the big blind with a three-bet to 1,200,000. Shiao called with K ♠️ 3 ♣️ while Chun had A ♥️ 5 ♦️.

When the flop came down 3 ♥️ 5 ♠️ 9 ♣️, both players got a piece. Chun bet 1,500,000 and Shiao check-called to bring them to  the turn 6 ♥️ where they both checked. 

The 7 ♥️ river card completed the board and Shiao jumped out with a 3,000,000 bet. Chun tanked until he used up one time chip then shoved 9,745,000. 

Shiao wrestled in his seat until he burned through two time chips before surrendering his hand to lose the lead.

Long Hin Shiao was dealt A ♥️ 10 ♦️ and made it 800,000 to go, Chih Wei Fan defended his big blind with 8 ♦️ 6 ♣️.

A dry board followed 2 ♥️ K ♦️ 5 ♠️ leading to both players checking to the turn 9 ♠️. Fan checked again then called Shiao's 500,000 delayed bet for his gutshot. 

The river J ♦️ helped no one and both checked. Shiao won the pot with ace-high.

Lin Wei Kai

Long Hin Shiao kicked off the hand with a min-raise from under the gun then tank-called Lin Wei Kai's three-bet shove in hopes of an elimination.

Lin was slightly ahead but Shiao had live cards. One of them paired up on the flop 8 ♦️ 10 ♦️ 5 ♣️ to take the lead. Lin's outs increased at the turn 9 ♦️ with a flush draw added to his count. 

The river dropped a red card, but not the suit Lin needed, instead the 6 ♥️ to end his run in 4th place.

Long Hin Shiao was dealt K ♣️ 5 ♣️ and opened 800,000 on the button. Two spots over, big blind Fan had A ♥️ 5 ♦️ and defended.

A wet flop of K ♦️ J ♦️ 10 ♦️ was felted and Shiao continued with a bet of 800,000 for his top pair. Fan responded with a big check-raise to 3,100,000, and Shiao let it go. 

Yu Yeh Chin makes it 800,000 from under the gun with A ♣️ J ♥️ in the hole. Small blind Lin Wei Kai with K ♣️ 7 ♣️ and big blind Long Hin Shiao with 8 ♦️ 5 ♦️ both defend. 

At the flop of 8 ♠️ 6 ♥️ 6 ♠️, everyone checked for a free turn card of 9 ♦️. With his open-ended, Lin led out for 1,200,000 and only Shiao stuck around to head to the river where the 4 ♥️ appeared.

Lin continued with a bluff bet of 2,000,000 and after a bit of tanking, he called, denying Lin's bluff. 

Chih Wei Fan raised to 800,000 on the button with 7 ♦️ 5 ♦️ and big blind Long Hin Shiao defended with a call holding 10 ♥️ 6 ♥️.

Fan continued on the flop of 3 ♥️ 5 ♥️ K ♠️ for 600,000 and Shiao called with his draw. When the turn 7 ♣️ gave Fan two pair, he fired 1,500,000, Shiao called again. 

The river 4 ♠️ was the money card for Shiao with the straight achieved. He switched up and bet 4,000,000 and won the pot with Fan opting to give up his hand and his stake in the pot. 

Lavonne Watkins

Lavonne Watkins three-bet all in and chip leader Long Hin Shiao made the easy call with his massive arsenal.

The board ran out of8 ♣️ A ♦️ 2 ♠️ 4 ♠️ K ♥️ to end Watkins's run in 5th place.

From under the gun, Lavonne Watkins min-raised with K ♦️ Jd: and got action from the big blind Chih Wei Fan who held Q ♥️ 8 ♦️.

When the flop was laid out, Fan spiked a pair on the board 8 ♣️ 2 ♥️ 6 ♦️ and checked and Watkins continued for 1,100,000. Fan answered with a shove and Watkins folded. 

Chip leader Long Hin Shiao looked down at A ♦️ J ♦️ and min-raised from under the gun. Button player Chih Wei Fan had A ♥️ 9 ♦️ and three-bet to 2,000,000. Unfazed, Shia called to play the flop. 

With the dealer fanning out 6 ♠️ J ♣️ 6 ♣️, Shiao paired up and it was check check. The turn 7 ♣️ drew another check from Fan while Shiao tested with a 2,000,000 bet. Fan quickly folded. 

Three-way to the flop after Yu Yeh Chun min-clicked holding J ♣️ 10 ♥️ on the button that was called by small blind Chih Wei Fan with K ♣️ 9 ♣️ and big blind Lavonne Watkins with 8 ♣️ 6 ♦️.

At the flop of :4 ♦️ : Qc: K ♥️, it was checked to Chun who continued for 800,000, Fan called with top pair while Watkins dropped off having missed. 

The turn drew another check from Fan while Chun barreled a hefty 2,400,000. After several seconds, Fan opted to fold his top pair. 

First to act Chih Wei Fan peeked at 2 ♠️ 2 ♦️ then Lavonne Watkins shoved with J ♣️ 8 ♣️ hole cards. Fan called to try to eliminate, but soon as the flop landed 4 ♦️ 10 ♣️ J ♠️, Watkins overtook.  

With the turn 7 ♦️ and river 4 ♣️ keeping Watkins ahead, he survived to continue his bid for the title. 

Chip leader Long Hin Shiao with K ♣️ 9 ♣️  limped in from the button and big blind Chih Wei Fan tapped it with 2 ♣️ 3 ♣️ to play the flop cheap.

The dealer spread a flop of K ♦️ 8 ♣️ 4 ♣️ and Shiao bet the minimum after Fan checked. Fan called and the turn was J ♥️. 

Again Shiao bet, this time a larger 700,000 and won the pot with Fan surrendering his hand. 

Soohyeok Lee

Soohyeok Lee three-bet shoved with A ♣️ K ♣️ and initial raiser Yu Yeh Chun called with more behind showing J ♥️ J ♣️.

With a flop coming 9 ♠️ 10 ♦️ J ♦️, Chun improved to a set while Lee needed a runner runner to survive. Hope came on the turn A ♥️ but with river 8 ♦️, Lee fell in 6th place. 

Lin Wei Kai got involved again with a raise to 600,000 on the button with K ♦️ Q ♥️ on hand. Small blind Long Hin Shiao had Q ♦️ Q ♣️ and three-bet it to 1,500,000. Lin topped up for heads up to the flop.

With the flop running 5 ♥️ A ♥️ K ♥️. Lin connected in multiple ways however no bets found the felt. On the turn 10 ♠️, no more checking for Lin who bet 1,500,000. After several seconds, Shiao folded. 

Yu Yeh Chun raised to 2,500,000 at hijack and big blind Lin Wei Kai jammed. With his 3 ♥️ 3 ♣️, Chun went for it and was flipping against Lin's K ♣️ J ♣️.

With the board running low 7 ♥️ 5 ♠️ 9 ♦️ 4 ♠️ 7 ♦️ Lin paid out stack. 

First to act Lin Wei Kai made it 600,000 to go and after it folded around to the small blind Chih Wei Fan, he three-bet to 2,500,000. Lin challenged back with a four-bet jam and Fan called risking his tournament life.

The board came K ♠️ Q ♦️ 7 ♦️ 3 ♣️ 4 ♥️ and Fan banked a double to dethrone Lin.   

With everyone folding to the small blind, shortest stacked Lavonne Watkins pushed his last 1,275,000 over the line with A ♣️ 5 ♦️ and big blind Lin Wei Kai called with K ♣️ Q ♦️.

Watkins stayed ahead throughout the board 2 ♦️ 10 ♣️ 10 ♠️ 6 ♥️ A ♠️ to ship a double up. 

First hand after the break opened with under the gun Lin Wei Kai dealt Q ♦️ Th: which he raised to 600,000. On the button, Soohyeok Lee called with A ♥️ 10 ♦️. With the blinds folding, they went hunting.

At the flop of 2 ♣️ J ♥️ A ♠️, Lin continued for 400,000 and Lee called with his top pair. The turn 2 ♦️ had both players check. The river came 6 ♣️ and Lin checked again. Not so for Lee who slid out a 1,000,000 bet. Lin folded. 

The final 6 players are on a 15-minute break. 

Long Hin Shiao

Out of the cutoff position, Lavonne Watkins was dealt J ♥️ 10 ♣️ and wanted to play it and slid out a raise of 480,000. Small blind Long Hin Shiao defended, calling with Q ♦️ J ♦️.

Watkins continued for 500,000 on a low board of 4 ♣️ 8 ♦️ 4 ♥️ and Shiao called. The turn 6 ♣️ drew another check from Shiao and Watkins checked back for a free river card 6 ♠️.

Shiao switched up and led for 700,000, Watkins gave it thought then folded to drop to 7 big blinds. 

Chih Wei Fan

Long Hin Shiao limped in from cutoff holding A ♦️ 6 ♣️ and got to see the flop cheap with Chih Wei Fan checking on the big blind with 9 ♦️ 2 ♦️. 

Following a check at the flop of 6 ♥️ 8 ♦️ 7 ♥️, Shiao bet 400,000 for his pair and Fan called with his open-ended. Both players checked the turn 8 ♥️ then Fan checked again on the river J ♥️ while Shiao laid out a 700,000 bet. Fan sent it back with a 1,600,000 raise and Shiao let it go. 

Yu Yeh Chun

Lin Wei Kai kicked off the hand with a raise to 500,000 only to be faced with a three-bet jam from Yu Yeh Chun for 4,230,000. Lin tanked then opted to let it go. 

Kevin Choi

Down to crumbs, the lone GOP Gauntlet holder, Kevin Choi was all in for his last 435,000 and two players called - Lavonne Watkins at hijack and Yu Yeh Chun on the small blind.

At the flop 3 ♥️ K ♦️ J ♠️, Watkins bet 1,000,000 for a side pot but Chun wasn't interested and folded.

Choi's chances of a triple up were bleak and with the turn Q ♥️ and river 6 ♥️, he ended his title bid in 7th place.

From early position, Soohyeok Lee open-jammed 2,770,000, cutoff player Kevin Choi joined in for 3,205,000, and with no other takers, they flipped them over.

The board threw blanks at Choi as it ran out K ♣️ 5 ♥️ 2 ♠️ 10 ♠️ 8 ♠️ to pay a costly double up and plunged to under two big blinds. 

Soohyeok Lee

Soohyeok Lee jammed his last 905,000 out of hijack and massive chip leader Lin Wei Kai called on the big blind.

Lee was ahead with top kicker but with the board running 3 ♠️ 3 ♥️ 2 ♠️ 4 ♥️, he sweated it with a draw for Lin. The river 4 ♦️ was a sigh of relief for Lee as he collected a much needed double up. 

Kevin Choi three-bet all in on the small blind and initial raiser from the button Chihwei Fan tank-called with less behind.

The board ran 3 ♠️ 4 ♦️ 3 ♦️ A ♠️ A ♦️ for a double up. 

Andy Tsai

Lin Wei Kai opened 500,000, Andy Tsai three-bet all in for 4,100,000 at cutoff, to send the action back to big stacked Lin who made the call.

Tsai was ahead with a pair and was flipping against overcards. When the flop ran 9 ♣️ 8 ♣️ 7 ♣️, Tsai gained an open-ended straight flush draw but Lin was now ahead with a flush. The turn A ♥️ was no help to Tsai, and neither was the river 9 ♦️ to fall in 8th place. 

Seung Hyuk Jung

Seung Hyuk Jung defended on the big blind by calling Lin Wei Kai's 500,000 raise. As soon as the flop was dealt 3 ♥️ 4 ♦️ 5 ♦️, Jung jammed 2,160,000 and Lin called.

The turn J ♥️ and river 5 ♥️ were no help to Jung to be the first to fall at the final table. 

Andy Tsai

At the start of the new level, Andy Tsai opened for 2,200,000 leaving 260,000 behind, and found no callers. 

Two hands later, he open-shoved on the small blind and big blind Soohyeok Lee defended to put Tsai on the ropes with more chips plus a better kicker.

The board favored Tsai as the flop came 5 ♠️ 7 ♣️ 6 ♠️ for an open-ended. The turn 10 ♣️ gave him more outs for the flush. The river 4 ♥️ was just what he needed to double through. 

Kevin Choi

After several hands with uncalled raises around the felt, Kevin Choi open-shoves on the button and big blind Lin Wei Kai defends to put him at risk of elimination.

Choi quickly improved on the flop and it held through the runout K ♥️ 7 ♥️ 4 ♦️ Q ♠️ Q ♣️ to avoid the rail.

Final 9 players of the GOP Taipei Main Event

GOP Taipei Main Event final 9 players is set! Leading the pack is Lin Wei Kai with a massive 120 big blinds after his big takedown that formed the final table. 

One of these players will stand alone as the inaugural GOP Taipei Main Event champion and will claim the coveted Black-and-Gold Gauntlet along with the champion's payout of NT$ 4,323,180. 

Once the final table reaches eight players, the double dealers will be implemented after the break.

Juhyung Son

Massive takedown with the biggest stacks at Table 3 going head-to-head. It started with a raise of 400,000 from Juhyung Son at hijack that was called by Lin on the big blind. 

At the flop of 8 ♥️ 6 ♠️ 4 ♥️, Lin led for 400,000, Son raised to 1,500,000, Lin jammed, and after the count, Son called despite knowing he was behind.

Lin Wei Kai: 9 ♥️ 7 ♥️

The turn immediately gave Lin the winning card with a 5 ♣️ for the straight and Son was drawing dead. The river Q ♣️ had no bearing.

At Table 2, Long Hin Shiao opened for 475,000 and Kevin Choi shoved. Shiao snap-called to put Choi in danger of falling before the final table.

Choi needed to get lucky once more to avoid the rail and avoid he did with the board running J ♠️ 7 ♥️ Q ♣️ 10 ♠️ K ♠️ for a split pot.

Andy Tsai

At Table 3, Andy Tsai was all in for 1,985,000 and with just slightly over double for Lavonne Watkins, he called out of the big blind.

The board ran clean 3 ♣️ 10 ♦️ 5 ♦️ 3 ♦️ 2 ♦️ for a flush to Tsai. 

Lavonne Watkins opened the minimum and got tested by Lin Wei Kai with a three-bet to 1,500,000. Watkins called to take them to the flop.

After the dealer fanned 5 ♥️ 3 ♥️ J ♦️, Watkins led for 800,000, Lin continued the pressure with a raise to 2,200,000, Watkins folded while showing A ♦️ J ♣️ saying “I only did that because I want to reach the final table.” 

Watkins pressured Lin to show, and he did, which was A ♠️ K ♥️. 

Following that hand, Watkins raised 400,000 again and Lin called. After the Q ♦️ J ♦️ 6 ♠️ flop was checked, Watkins bet the turn 3 ♥️ and won the pot uncontested. 

Watkins showed the K ♠️ Q ♥️ top pair, Lin returned the gesture and showed 9 ♠️ 9 ♥️.

Juhyung Son opened from under the gun then faced a three bet of 1,500,000 by Lin Wei Kai. Son answered with a shove and Lin folded giving up his big bet. Son showed his hole cards, he had K ♠️ K ♦️.

Yao Hou Chun

First bust out of the final day started with a raise from Long Hin Shiao from under the gun, Yao Hou Chun three-bet, then Shiao four-bet shoved. Chun called for his tournament life.

The board ran 6 ♦️ 6 ♣️ 10 ♠️ 10 ♦️ 3 ♠️. And just like that, Shiao leads the race and the field is down to 10 players.

Kevin Choi doubles up

After everyone folded to the big blind Chihwei Fan, he turned over aces and was disappointed at not getting any value. The next hand he opened from the small blind and Kevin Choi defended on the big blind. 

At the flop K ♠️ A ♠️ 6 ♥️, action erupted with a shove from Choi, Fan called to put Choi at risk of elimination.

Chihwei Fan: A ♥️ Q ♥️

Choi was in dire need of a miracle which did not find the turn 9 ♠️ however he did pick up more outs for the flush. One of them landed on the river with the 10 ♠️ arriving to secure a lucky double up. 

First hand of the day, Andy Tsai shoved and won the blinds and ante. Next hand, Juhyung Son opened for 400,000, Soohyeok Lee jammed, Son folded and showed 10 ♥️ 10 ♣️. Lee returned the gesture showing A ♥️ J ♥️

After four entry days that drew 556 entries and a grueling Day 2 battle, the inaugural Gods of Poker Taipei Main Event is down its final day with 11 players returning to CTP Asia Poker Arena for the last stretch to glory. 

Cards start flying at 12:30 PM.

Each of the finalists are now guaranteed a minimum payout is now NT$ 352,400 (∼US$ 11,000) but of course, the pursuit is to capture the top prize of NT$ 4,323,180 (∼US$ 136,800) and the coveted GOP Black-and-Gold Gauntlet.

Lin Wei Kai

The final day will open with Lin Wei Kai at the helm  with 62 big blinds. Lin amassed a large portion of his stack when he landed quads and got value off Shen Bo Yu. Lin would have closed out the heat with a lot more had he not lost an expensive flip against Juhyung Son during the last hands of the day. Due to this, Son catapulted and will enter the final day ranked second in chips with 50 big blinds.

Locking up the third spot is Taiwanese high roller Chihwei Fan with 46 big blinds. Fan zoomed up the ranks early in the day on a three-way cooler, then during the last hour of play, he caught Seung Hyuk Jung on a bluff.

The last player to leap up the ranking was Yao Hou Chun with a pocket pair that dodged overcards on the final hand of the night. Chun will start his final day with 46 big blinds.
