Gustavo Silva Campos
Flight A of the Gods of Poker Main Event, taking place for the first time inside the Grand Ballroom of world-class NagaWorld in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, concluded with 7 players remaining out of the 48 total entries that signed up across the four hours of registration.
The chip lead remained up for grabs all day with several players jostling for command. Miyoung Cho was the first to approach the seven-figure mark, with Takuma Terada soon joining the chase.
It was Gustavo Silva Campos, however, who broke through, first to surge past a million after eliminating two players nearly back-to-back as the field narrowed to one table.
By the time play reached nine-handed, Campos continued to grind his advantage, firmly establishing himself as chip leader with 1,225,000 (61 bb).
His closest challenger was Alfie Adam, sitting on 981,000 (49 bb). Adam delivered the bubble to catapult up four rungs into second position.
